Get Well Soon

"When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

-John 5:6

Do you notice in this verse...Jesus was questioning the man if he wanted to get well. Sounds a little silly right? Like..of course Jesus...I want to be well.. I don't want to be in this pain or suffering anymore?

But yet still he asked. As I read this, I realized that Jesus wasn't trying to be snarky...he was simply testing this mans faith. Obviously he knew that the man wanted his pain and hurting to end, but he wanted to see where this mans faith was.

As I am writing this blog...I had the most incredible experience yesterday. Probably the most intense and healing experience i've ever had in my life. And I think the exact situation that was happening in John was happening to me for a long time. I KNEW I wanted healing. I knew that with everything that had been going on in my health and my gut and injuries that there would EVENTUALLY be healing. But what kind of faith is that?

Receiving healing is not something that God desires you get one random day. You receive healing the day you choose Him. Its YOUR choice as to whether or not you actively take hold of that healing He is offering every single day and choose to walk IN it.

You see, Jesus wasn't really asking this man if he wanted to be healed. He was simply asking the man if he was ready. As if to say "I know you want healing, and I have the power to heal you. But what you are waiting for? Are you ready to participate and engage in your own process of healing? You know you can't do this alone. You've been pleading and praying to me for so long now. Its your time. Are you ready to live out the faith you've been praying for me to give you?"

How powerful is that???! When Jesus took our sins to the cross, he sacrificed himself and thus making us co-heirs to his glory. We have access to Him through the Holy Spirit. Its because of him that we have the ability to claim victory over any situation, doubt, burden, or suffering that we might have going in in our life. All of these things were FREELY given to us when we chose to die to ourselves and be reborn in Him...but he gave us the choice of whether or not we receive these things. And not just like a one and done type of deal..but choose to receive, reach out, and take it every single day.

Jesus does the hard part for us, but he NEEDS you to be active in your healing process. He needs you to believe it, and believe it whole heartedly. He wants you to be a part of the healing process because when you get to sit in on your own blessing, your faith will grow even more.

I don't know what you are going through, but I know that if you are a woman reading this, than you want healing from something in your life right now.

Maybe you've been praying for a husband

Maybe you've been praying for a job

Maybe you've been praying for healing from a divorce

Maybe you've been praying for your husband to show his love more

Maybe you've been praying for healing of something in your body

Maybe you've been praying for victory over your eating disorder

Maybe you've been praying for more self love, to be more kind to yourself

Whatever it is, you can be part of the process of this healing. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you fight. Release to the feet of Jesus and declare resurrection power over your situation. The blood of Jesus was shed for you, and you can declare that victory over your situation too because his love is reckless, and mighty.

Reflect on todays verse:

"When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”-John 5:6

1. You need healing today. What is it? What "condition" do you have that you need God to intervene on today? Do you want to get well?

2. How is God speaking to you through this verse? What stands out to you the most?

3. Was there a lesson in this passage? How does it pertain to your life right now?

4. How do you feel God is using this passage to you move and grow you?

5. What are some steps you can take this week to embrace, and live out this truth?

Father,

I want to get well soon. I want your healing power..no Lord, I NEED it. Thank you that I get to engage in my own healing process. I am free because of you. I am free to be healed. To be whole. And Father God I declare victory today over ________. It will no longer have power over me. You died to set me free and today I declare that I am free from the things in my life that bind me and keep me from being the Child you ask me to be. Spirit guide my heart, give me peace as I walk in this healing. My heart has hurt for a long time, but I am so thankful for the love and grace that you show me every single day, even when I don't deserve it. Jesus give me more of you today.

Amen
