Victory at Calvary

"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

- 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Think about every time you have ever had to rely on strength to get you through something. Maybe thats opening a pickle jar. Or maybe thats defeating the enemy that is fear.

As human beings, we always want to be strong. Whether thats strength as in physical strength (lifting weights), or emotional strength (being able to see the positive in situations). We always prefer operating in our strength rather than out weakness. Right?

But I bet you have been in a situation where your weakness trumps more times than you can count. So why is this? Why are there times when you just feel weak. When you just cannot overcome something on your own?

Because, in our weakness...we allow God to come in strong with his strength.

We as human beings have limitations. Sometimes it feels as though we are always stuck in some sort of limitation, some sort of weakness.

Well friends, our God does not operate according to our limitations.

I know in my life in particular, everything that I have been through I would not have been able to crawl my way out of it is wasn't for relying not on my strength, but on Gods.

"Whenever He calls you to step out of your comfort zone, you can be sure He wants you to do something in and through your life. God chooses people for His work not because they are big enough and strong enough and strong enough, but because He knows who will stay focused on the truth that only God can do that Work "- Christine Caine

Friends, our God is so big and he will stand victorious EVEN over the grave. When we lay down our lives at his feet, we release our strength and take up His.

God will never put you in a situation you cannot overcome.

In the moments you feel you are failing, its our job to take a step back and lay that weakness at His feet and remember God wants us to call on his strength...the only thing that is going to move that mountain. We have access to an unshakeable, reckless love that crumbles walls and breaks strongholds.

Hanging on a cross,as Jesus died...the enemy had thought he had won. He was about to claim victory.

But the overwhelming, unshakeable, undeniable, reckless love of Our God would not let that be the case. Jesus claimed Victory at Calvary. And he desperately wants you to claim that same victory.

His power is made perfect in weakness. Even on the cross, Jesus was weak...but he was not powerless.

So when you see your weakness..."delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties"...and wait in anticipation as you watch Him fight those battles.

Reflect on todays verse:

"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

- 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

1. What areas of your life are you hurting and broken? Are you overwhelmed by the weight of you sin? Are you trying desperately to fight a battle with your own strength? Declare the blood of Jesus Christ over your life right now. Jesus is calling. He wants to use your weakness. He wants to use that weakness you are afraid of to do HIS WORKS.

2. How is God speaking to you through this verse? What stands out to you the most?

3. Was there a lesson in this passage? How does it pertain to your life right now?

4. How do you feel God is using this passage to you move and grow you?

5. What are some steps you can take this week to embrace, and live out this truth?

Father,

Thank you for your Victory at Calvary. In the times where my strength fails, pour your strength into me so that I may be victorious as well. I am so thankful that I dont have to rely on my own strength because I realize how bad I need you. Help me to remember and take with my as I go about my week that your grace is sufficient for me in all circumstances.

Amen
