One of a Kind

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalm 139:13-14

He has knitted together your innermost parts and fashioned all my days before there was even one of them.

We may not always be who we thought we would be, or accomplish the things we thought we would accomplish. But you are still who God says you are. There is power in knowing who you are and whose you are.

Verse 14-16 says:

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

There are billions of people on planet earth, and yet His love is so reckless and big that he takes the time to Knit us together as if we were his most precious piece of art he's ever made.

I know how hard it can be to capture that truth and drink it in every day. When you look in the mirror and see cellulite in places you wish it weren't. Or you see your body changing in ways you are happy with. Maybe you are in the midst of a weight loss journey and you can't seem to get that dang weight off where you really want it off. Its in those times that we fill our mind with lies and negativity and lose the beauty of the person thats staring back at you.

But really...who told you cellulite wasn't pretty?

Who told you having a little extra skin wasn't beautiful?

Who told you that being X amount of weight was going to make you feel fulfilled and happy?

Who told you these things?

Are they from your own mind, or from the world around you?

They aren't from God. I know that for a fact because we are made wonderfully. That means that it doesn't matter our weight, or heritage, or ethnicity, the amount of fat we carry on our stomachs, the amount of weight we can pick up...we are STILL worthy of a God like the one we have to pursue us.

Give up the need to constantly pick yourself apart or be more like one of the women you look up to and start seeing the grace that is wrapped around you when you turn your eyes up upon Jesus and embrace who He made YOU to be.

Reflect on todays verse:

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalm 139:13-14

1. What steps can you take today to remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made? Maybe this means writing it on a sticky note and placing them all over your house, mirror, or car. I know for me, I need a constant reminder of these things. My love language is words of affirmation so something that I have done in the past is made a voice memo to myself declaring the truths that I know about God and who he says I am. That way I can physically HEAR someone (myself) speaking them. I don't always notice those sticky notes, but I do notice when people tell me. Whatever way you learn, or whatever way you can declare this truth to you the best...do it, and see how it changes the way you see yourself.

2. How is God speaking to you through this verse? What stands out to you the most?

3. Was there a lesson in this passage? How does it pertain to your life right now?

4. How do you feel God is using this passage to you move and grow you?

5. What are some steps you can take this week to embrace, and live out this truth?

Father,

You know literally the number of hairs on my head. I am wonderfully made. Its crazy to think of all the intricate details you had to think of to make me who I am. All the way from my personality, quirks, what my taste buds like and don't like, how my fingerprints are different than every other human being on the planet. Thats love, Jesus. Love so reckless and big that you'd spend the time to make me who I am. Father God help me to never question what you've made. The world says certain things about me aren't pretty, but no where in your word can I find those things to declare them as truth. Father I am grateful for my body, for my life and for how deep your love wraps me.

Amen
