Devine Connection

All around us we observe a pregnant creation. The difficult times of pain throughout the world are simply birth pangs. But it’s not only around us; it’s withinus. The Spirit of God is arousing us within. We’re also feeling the birth pangs. These sterile and barren bodies of ours are yearning for full deliverance. That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course, don’t see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy.

Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.

At first when I read this version of the scripture in The Message Translation I was a little bit weirded out. Comparing our life and difficult circumstances to pregnancy? Sounds weird. But its so true!

We have the ability to be Bold in Christ and bow our heads to pray with absolutely nothing to say, and yet God still hears us.

The Spirit is our CONNECTION to God. The Spirit of God is basically the string between the two cups in the telephone game. Its the thing that allows us to have a deeper connection to God in our everyday life, and prayer life.

I believe this particular verse is talking about how the Spirit is our connection in relation to actually praying in the Spirit (I've also heard some people call this speaking in tongues), however I really do see a practical application here no matter if you've been praying your whole life or if you've been searching for the right way to start praying.

God doesn't ask us to come to him with prayers that are perfect, flawless, straight out of the Bible and 30 minutes long. No, all he asks is that we come to Him with open arms, hearts, and minds to receive whatever it is He has for us.

But I know that sometimes you get in a season of life where you feel like you've prayed all that you can pray. You cannot manage to breath another breath and you don't even have the brain capacity to think of more words to say. This is where we remember our Devine connection.

We don't have to even know the words, or even have a solid thought process to come before God with our prayers. If all you can muster up is a bunch of random words on a piece of paper that don't make sense, but you still offer it up to God, thats still prayer!

When you are made alive in Christ again when you choose Him, the Holy Spirit it also made alive in you. The Spirit is given to us as a gift to be our helper, our aid. He is the one who guides us and makes us more like Jesus every day as we strive to live our life more like Him.

The Holy Spirit is not just our connection in prayer, but he is our connection to fully walking in the fruit of the Spirit and becoming closer to God.

The fruit of the spirit is Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. We all want those things because in those things we become more like Jesus. Our everyday lives are little but sunshiny-er and we see the goodness of His love more clearly every single day.

I think a lot of people skip over the Holy Spirit when we first chose to live our life for Christ. We don't see him as a powerful weapon and guider. But we need to because he is the one that we need to call on when we don't have the words to say to our friends whose family member just died. He's the one we call on to help us discern between the truth and the lies. He is the one who gives us peace when we feel the weight of the world on our shoulders.

Cry out the the Holy Spirit today, and allow him to take guide your path and lead you to place where you will find peace and rest.
